BLUF:The Halo Beriti Washing Station in Ethiopia, known for its meticulous "special preparation" process, produces coffee with vibrant tasting notes of fresh citrus, apricot, jasmine, and perfume, characterized by tart acidity and fruit-like sweetness.
Established in 2014, the Halo Beriti Washing Station in Ethiopia serves 750 smallholder producers, who deliver their coffee cherries for processing. This particular lot underwent a "special preparation," involving meticulous hand-sorting throughout the receiving and drying process to ensure only perfect coffees were bagged. Ethiopian coffee farmers typically cultivate coffee on small plots alongside other crops, and they deliver their cherries to nearby washing stations where the coffee is sorted, weighed, and processed, usually using washed or natural methods. These washing stations handle cherries from hundreds to over a thousand producers, making precise traceability difficult, though efforts are made to source coffee consistently from the same stations. Farmers in this region generally do not use fertilizers or pesticides. This coffee boasts tasting notes of fresh citrus fruit, apricot, jasmine, and perfume flavors, with lots of tart acidity and fruit-like sweetness.
